One of the Bay Area’s most cherished holiday traditions returns to Oakland

December just wouldn’t be the same in the Bay Area without the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir’s annual Holiday Concert.

Just ask the hundreds of local gospel music fans who love to include OIGC’s big shindig in their planning each and every Christmas season.

And they’ll be doing so again this year as the acclaimed gospel choir — which is led by the talented and charismatic Terrance Kelly — performs its 39th annual Holiday Concert on Dec. 7 at the historic Paramount Theatre in downtown Oakland.

The award-winning arts organization has lined up some cool special guests for the show (which has taken on the theme of “Healing Through Song” for 2024). For starters, Amar Khalil of Tony! Toni! Toné! fame will be hosting the event. There will also be guest vocalists JaCoree Prothro, Reverend Reginald Finley and Jackie Tolbert as well as ASL interpretation from Half-N-Half (Sherry Hicks and Michael Velez).

The concert also features the Oakland Interfaith Community Choir and Youth Choir.

Showtime is 9 p.m. and tickets start at $15, oigc.org.
