National Weather Service advises of unsafe beach conditions from Big Sur to Marin County

The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement for Saturday evening through Monday evening, warning of an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents.

The advisory covers all Pacific Coast beaches from Big Sur to the Marin County coast.

The Weather Service warned of unsafe swimming and surf conditions and advised not to take pets near the water during the advisory, which will start at 7 p.m. Saturday and expire at 7 p.m. Monday.

The Weather Service also advised beachgoers not to turn their backs to the ocean. Waves can be unpredictable and form quickly.
