Motorcyclist dies in solo crash Sunday night in San Jose

SAN JOSE — A motorcyclist died after crashing into a light pole Sunday night, the San Jose Police Department said in a news release.

Around 10:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash at Bascom Avenue and Union Avenue, on the Campbell border, according to the release.

An adult male had been driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson east on Union Avenue when it left the street and hit a light pole, authorities said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The collision marks the 46th traffic death of the year investigated by San Jose police.

The identity of the driver will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
