OAKLAND — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man found with major trauma to his body near the Coliseum Thursday night, authorities said.
The man’s name has not yet been released pending notification of his family. He is believed to have been in his 40s, authorities said.
The man was found dead about 10:22 p.m. Thursday in the 6100 block of Coliseum Way, a commercial area.
Authorities said he had major trauma to his body and police homicide investigators have taken over the investigation.

An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
A motive for the killing is under investigation. No arrests have been announced and no suspect information has been released.
The death is the 53rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year and the second to have occurred Thursday. A woman was fatally shot about 2 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of International Boulevard. Last year at this time, police had investigated 59 homicides in the city.
