Man shot to death Thursday in East Oakland

OAKLAND – A man was shot to death Thursday afternoon in East Oakland, police said.

The shooting happened around 4:10 p.m., in the area of 11th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, died at the scene. Authorities did not identify him.

The shooting appeared to stem from a dispute between the man and at least one other person, police said. No arrests were announced and no suspect information was released.

The killing is the 81st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. At this time last year, police had investigated 125 homicides.
