Law enforcement apprehend fugitive violent child sex offender found living in Santa Cruz County

CAPITOLA — A federal fugitive that had been on the run for almost a decade was apprehended in Capitola Wednesday.

George Bishop was taken into custody around 8 a.m. on the 1100 block of Sutherland Lane by the Capitola Police Department in partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service. Bishop, who had been living under the alias “Brody Levesque,” failed to register as a violent child sex offender and was taken into custody with a fully extraditable federal warrant, according to a media release from the Capitola Police Department.

Bishop, who has a history of producing and distributing child sexual assault material and sex trafficking, had been evading law enforcement since 2016. He spent the past two years living in Capitola, according to the release.

Capitola police Criminal Investigations Unit detectives are investigating for any other potential crimes perpetrated by Bishop.
