Kidnapping suspect arrested after holding victim hostage at Bay Area home

An armed suspect believed to have kidnapped a woman and hold her hostage at a Vallejo residence was arrested on Sunday.

Cordell Milton Shaw, 26, was taken into custody June 30 and charged with suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic battery, criminal threats, damaging a wireless communication device to prevent help, and carrying a loaded, stolen firearm after the Vallejo Police Department received a report that a victim was being held inside a residence in the 100 block of Maher Court by an armed, adult male suspect.

According to Vallejo Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Rashad Hollis, the victim told officers that Shaw threatened to harm her and used violence against her in an attempt to prevent her escape.

A search of the residence uncovered two loaded firearms, one of which was reported stolen out of Stanislaus County.

Shaw was booked into the Solano County Jail with bail set at $185,000.
