High school girls basketball rankings Dec. 17, 2024: Bay Area News Group Top 20

Acalanes has reached the Top 5 of the Bay Area News Group girls basketball rankings after running its season-opening unbeaten streak to six games.

St. Francis, Piedmont and Sacred Heart Cathedral also have started undefeated.

Pinewood stayed at No. 3 after defeating two Hawaii powerhouses at a tournament on the islands. 

Valley Christian and Half Moon Bay enter the rankings after strong starts.

Priory moved up three spots, from No. 18 to 15, after winning on three of its games in the past week.

Top-ranked Archbishop Mitty had the week off as it prepared to defend its Nike Tournament of Champions crown.
