Police said in the statement that they began an investigation into the 39-year-old Fremont resident, which entailed online and phone communication from June 26 to June 28.

During the investigation, the suspect sent sexually explicit material through his phone to a person who he believed was a 13-year-old girl, authorities said. He also arranged a meeting to engage in sexually explicit activities, they added.

Police obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest and took him into custody July 2 with help from the Internet Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation Detail Task Force and San Leandro Police Department. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
