Disney theme park chairperson Josh D’Amaro promised to deliver “something you haven’t seen yet” when the new Avatar themed land based on the sequels in the $5 billion action sci-fi film franchise debuts at Disney California Adventure.
“We’re so excited about the future of the Disneyland resort, especially at Disney California Adventure, where we’re creating a new experience inspired by the ‘Avatar’ films — including something you haven’t seen yet,” D’Amaro said at D23 Brazil.
D’Amaro made the comments over the weekend during D23 Brazil — a smaller version of the Disney fan event that took over the Anaheim Convention Center in August.

D’Amaro didn’t expand on his tease for DCA’s Avatar themed land, but D23 Brazil did offer a sneak peek at the upcoming “Avatar: Fire and Ash” coming to theaters in December 2025.

Concept art created by Oscar-nominated production designer Dylan Cole of “Avatar: The Way of Water” showed an aerial view of a dozen canoes surrounded by a pod of whale-like Tulkun sea creatures in a glowing blue Pandora biological reef.
The Tulkan sea creatures have shown up in concept art for the new DCA Avatar themed land.
