CHP arrests two suspects in Oakland after sideshow

OAKLAND — Two suspects involved in sideshow activities near the Bay Bridge were arrested early Friday morning after taking officers on a pursuit both by car and on foot,  authorities announced Friday.

California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop the suspects, who were observed engaging in sideshow activities in a white Infiniti, near the Treasure Island on-ramp when the suspects fled. A pursuit into Oakland resulted in the Infiniti crashing into a tree in a median on Mandela Parkway.

The driver and passenger were apprehended after a short foot chase, transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and booked into Santa Rita Jail on multiple charges including reckless driving and felony evading, according to a CHP press release.

“The CHP Oakland Area has a zero-tolerance policy on sideshows, street racing and reckless driving and will take the appropriate enforcement action to keep our roadways safe,” authorities said in a press release announcing the arrests Friday. “As a reminder, if you are driving in a reckless manner or fleeing from our officers, you can still be held accountable even if you are not apprehended at the time of the incident.”
