SAN JOSE — Firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze at a vacant restaurant in downtown early Thursday morning, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
The fire was located at the intersection of S. 2nd Street and E. San Salvador Street, SJFD said. The vacant building previously housed Bo Town Seafood, which closed in 2019 after 30 years of business.

The fire was called into the department at 5:11 a.m., according to a social media post from SJFD. The flames were knocked down by 6:46 a.m., fire officials said to the Bay Area News Group.
There were no injuries or displacements caused by the fire, authorities said. The cause remains under investigation, and there is not yet a damage estimate. Traffic on nearby streets was impacted.
Development company Urban Community purchased the building in July 2019 and made plans to build a residential tower and mixed-used space next to it. The proposed development would retain the structure of the Bo Town Seafood building, which was a mid-century build with elements inspired by the space-age, and incorporate it into the design of the new tower. The project was approved by the San Jose City Council in 2022.
