The shooting – the fourth in two days – was reported just after 1:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of Sycamore Drive, Antioch police Lt. John Fortner said in a news release. Officers arrived to find several bullet casings and a “discarded pistol on the ground.”

No victims had been identified or come forward as of Tuesday evening, Fortner said.

An investigation is underway into the shooting.

Fortner said officers have been assigned to patrol the area and coverage times will be increased.

Earlier in the day, a man was gunned down in the 30 block of East 6th Street. And on Monday, a 27-year-old man was injured in a shooting in the 1000 block of Sycamore Drive.

The Sycamore Drive shooting followed reports of gunfire near the intersection of Spanos Street and Mahogany Way. The intended targets – a 35-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man – were not struck. Police said the two shootings were connected.
