BRENTWOOD — A 17-year-old Brentwood resident has been charged with assaulting and robbing a man in a confrontation that followed a road rage incident earlier this month, authorities said.

The boy was one of four people suspected of at least being present during the attack on the 23-year-old man on Nov. 2, Brentwood police said in a statement. One of those four was an 18-year-old, authorities said.
Authorities have charged the 17-year-old with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon or by force likely to produce great bodily injury, according to the statement from police. They say he took away the man’s gun and cellphone.
According to police, officers responded to the Safeway in the 3100 block of Balfour Road and immediately arrested two of the juveniles. They did not say if charges have been filed against the other one.
It was unclear if the confrontation happened in the parking lot.
Police said they have identified the third juvenile and the adult, both of whom got away. They did not publicly identify or give any identifying information for the 18-year-old.
The road rage happened on undisclosed city streets, according to police. They did not say what caused it to happen. The man and the group did not know one another, police said.
