Cornerback Beanie Bishop, whom the Bears signed six days ago, intercepted both Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel on egregious overthrows and veteran quarterback Case Keenum threw for a perfect passer rating in the Bears’ 34-10 win against the Browns on Saturday at Soldier Field. The Bears trailed by 10 in the second quarter and then scored 34-straight points.
Keenum, who played the third quarter, led the Bears to touchdowns on a 49-yard catch-and-run by Salvon Ahmed and a six-yard catch from fellow running back Brittain Brown. He finished 9-for-10 for 151 yards and a 158.3 passer rating in the Bears’ preseason opener. He was replaced by fourth-stringer Miller Moss, Caleb Williams’ former backup at USC, who led the Bears to 10 points of his own.
Kicker Cairo Santos made field goals of 51 and 49 yards — and missed a 50-yarder.
The Bears started second-string quarterback Tyson Bagent, who threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to receiver Maurice Alexander halfway through the second quarter.
Not a single offensive starter took the field. On defense, the Bears started a handful: rookie safety Dillon Thieneman, their first-round pick; defensive tackle Gervon Dexter; linebackers Devin Bush and D’Marco Jackson; and defensive ends Austin Booker and Dayo Odeyingbo, who are fighting for the spot opposite Montez Sweat.
