<p id=”par-1_71″>Hollywood has suffered through some pretty significant, high-profile celebrity deaths in the last 12 months. There have been deaths from long illnesses, tragic passings that seemingly struck suddenly and multiple murders and suicide deaths. In the last few months, three real estate listings have come online after the tragically young passings of notable names.</p>

<p id=”par-2_56″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/kelly-clarkson-ex-husband-brandon-blackstock-dead.html/”>Brandon Blackstock, </a>the talent manager and former husband of celebrity songstress, Kelly Clarkson, died in August 2025 at age 48 following a battle with melanoma; his death shocked fans. Almost one year later, the Montana property he considered his dream home has been listed. The sprawling property in Butte, Montana, hit the market at $2.9 million.</p>

<p id=”par-3_46″>Blackstock purchased the ranch in April 2022, just one month after his divorce from Clarkson was finalized. The 6,438-square-foot estate sits on more than 41 acres and features soaring ceilings and panoramic mountain views. He reportedly purchased the property, with career ranching aspirations, for $1.8 million.</p>
<p id=”par-4_57″>The Montana home turned out to be Blackstock’s last chapter, though he certainly intended it to be his next great move. Prior to the Montana home, Blackstock and Clarkson shared an $8.5 million Encino mansion. It sold for $8.24 million in 2021 amid their divorce. A Nashville-area estate they owned together was also sold for $6.3 million.</p>

<p id=”par-5_51″>Katherine Hartley Short, the eldest daughter of comedian Martin Short, died by suicide on February 23, 2026, at age 42. A social worker and mental health advocate who worked with the charity Bring Change 2 Mind, Katherine was found at her home in the Beachwood Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills.</p>

The rental listing went live five months after the “Dawson’s Creek” star died at age 48 from colorectal cancer. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom Spanish-style home at 333 South Roxbury Drive is now listed for rent at $13,950 per month.</p>

It was widely believed they owned the property. In reality, the couple never actually owned the home; they leased it. The home is registered to a trust tied to billionaire real estate investors and former Los Angeles Clippers owners Donald and Rochelle Sterling, and has been for years. </p>
