102nd Summer Music Festival at Redlands Bowl opens June 20

Jazz vocalist Nicole Henry will open the 102nd Summer Music Festival at the Redlands Bowl on June 20 with a tribute to legendary divas, including pop icon Whitney Houston.

Redlands Bowl Performing Arts unveiled the full festival lineup on Friday, March 14. According to a news release, Henry will take the audience on a “joyful musical journey” celebrating Houston’s greatest hits, including “The Greatest Love of All,” “I Have Nothing,” “I Look To You,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

Henry, who has previously performed at the Bowl, is an award-winning vocalist with three Top 10 U.S. Billboard albums to her credit, including her 2008 album, “The Very Thought of You.”

Her concert kicks off the free eight-week performance series, which will also feature a tribute to Jimmy Buffet and a production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

Beverly Noerr, RBPA executive director, said the festival offers a mix of performances, with something for everyone to enjoy.

“There’s nothing like coming together with friends and family to experience all that the Bowl hasto offer,” Noerr said in the news release. “It’s a beloved tradition that brings our community closer each season.”

Most concerts are scheduled Tuesday and Friday evenings, June 20 through Aug. 16. Performances will also be held select Thursday evenings. All performances begin at 8 p.m. and seating is first come, first served. Redlands Bowl does not charge admission but donations are welcome at performances.
