Woman found dead after brush fire near river in Long Beach

A woman was found dead after a brush fire near the San Gabriel River in Long Beach on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Fire crews extinguishing the fire discovered the body in the vicinity of 2nd Street and the river, according to the Long Beach Police Department, not far from the Long Beach Marina and busy Pacific Coast Highway.

Homicide detectives are investigating the death, and no further information about the fire or the woman was immediately available.

Her identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
