The 2024-25 offseason, in the slowly-dawning era of revenue-sharing and an inflated NIL marketplace, is shaping up to be massively important for USC heading into a possible make-or-break season for Lincoln Riley’s program rebuild. With an improved budget for collective House of Victory and heavy need at multiple positions, here’s a tracker for the USC football players entering and arriving from the transfer portal.
The first window to enter the transfer portal officially opens on Dec. 9 and closes on Dec. 28.
Leaving: DE Sam Greene
The first defensive player to announce their departure from USC, this one came as a bit of a surprise. The 6-foot-1, 255-pound redshirt-freshman Greene had established himself as a starter on the edge for the Trojans’ defense down the stretch, winning the job for the last three games of the season, and would’ve been a certain building block in D’Anton Lynn’s unit after a steadily-rising snap count.
Greene finished his 2024 season at USC with 15 tackles and a sack.
Leaving: WR Kyron Hudson
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound redshirt junior from Mater Dei announced his decision to enter the portal on Dec. 5. Hudson made several spectacular catches and had a career best season with 38 catches for 462 yards in 2024. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Leaving: QB Jake Jensen
A mainstay in Lincoln Riley’s quarterback room for three seasons, former JUCO transfer Jensen won USC’s third-string QB job in 2023 and held the role for two seasons. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound redshirt junior saw action in a spot-goal-line package in USC’s final game of the season against Notre Dame, but otherwise didn’t see the field in 2024.
Leaving: K Denis Lynch
A local Newbury Park High product, the eccentric lefty Lynch was a favorite in USC’s program, earning a scholarship in 2023. He finished just 15-of-22 (68%) and 10-of-14 (71%) in 2022 and 2023 as the Trojans’ starting kicker, however, and lost the job to Georgia Southern transfer Michael Lantz in 2024.
Leaving: OL Gino Quinones
Quinones endured a truly tough couple of years at USC, earning a starting job in 2023 but suffering a season-ending knee injury. He seemed poised for a depth role as a veteran in 2024, but never saw the field and was later ruled out for the year for a second consecutive season. A 6-foot-3, 302-pound versatile lineman who’s worked at a variety of spots as a Trojan, Quinones will pursue another year of eligibility after beginning his USC career in 2019.
Leaving: OL Amos Talalele
In a surprising blow to USC’s offensive-line depth, Josh Henson lost a member of his young core with Talalele’s departure, a 6-foot-4, 340-pound redshirt-freshman who was in competition with fellow youngster Alani Noa for USC’s right-guard competition. After multiple games rotating snaps, Talalele eventually lost the job to Noa, but seemed primed for an expanded role in 2025 after another year of development.
Leaving: QB Miller Moss
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound redshirt junior announced his decision to enter the portal on Dec. 2. After serving as a loyal back to Caleb Williams, he won the starting job in 2024, but was benched in favor of Jayden Maiava midway through the season. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
