Ventura County Beaches, Malibu and Los Angeles County Beaches were placed under an updated high surf advisory by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 8:50 p.m. The advisory is in effect until Monday, Mar. 3 at 9 p.m.
The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA said, “Surf heights of 5 to 8 feet with local sets to 9 feet and dangerous rip currents are expected. Highest surf on west-facing beaches.”
“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” according to the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.”
