Summit led by Lt. Gov. Kounalakis and Treasurer Ma postponed during SoCal fires

The Valley Economic Alliance has postponed its third annual Our Region/Our Future Summit that was to take place Thursday, Jan. 9, in light of the multiple wildfires impacting the Los Angeles region.

Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis and state Treasurer Fiona Ma were scheduled to appear. Kounalakis had been expected to participate in a fireside chat and Ma was set to deliver keynote remarks.

But the event, which would have taken place at Cal State Northridge, was postponed due to the disastrous Palisades, Eaton and Sunset fires.

“The safety and well-being of our speakers, sponsors, and guests is our top priority,” the Valley Economic Alliance wrote on its website. “In the days ahead, we will reach out to event registrants with additional details and updates regarding the rescheduled event. Thank you for your understanding and for all you do to support our region. We remain committed to serving and standing by you, now and in the days ahead.”

The Valley Economic Alliance, based in Sherman Oaks, is made up of governments, corporations, small businesses, educational institutions and community organizations who work to promote economic vitality in the San Fernando Valley.
