Rams bring back WR Tutu Atwell on a 1-year deal

The Rams have agreed to terms to bring wide receiver Tutu Atwell back for next season, a source confirmed Thursday.

The deal, reportedly worth $10 million for one season, keeps Atwell with the Rams for a fifth season. A second-round pick in 2021, Atwell set career highs in 2024 with 42 receptions for 562 yards, though he did not reach the end zone.

Known for his speed, Atwell hasn’t been utilized by the Rams as you would expect for someone with his draft capital. But the Rams are looking at a major overhaul of their wide receiver corps this year. Stalwart Cooper Kupp is expected to be traded, while general manager Les Snead signaled Wednesday that Demarcus Robinson is unlikely to get a third contract with the Rams. Tyler Johnson is also a free agent.

So Atwell’s return brings back someone who is deeply familiar with head coach Sean McVay’s playbook, and who can stretch the field for new No. 1 option Puka Nacua and second-year receiver Jordan Whittington to operate underneath.
