Rain moves out, leaving windy but warming weather in Southern California
A storm system moved out of Southern California on Friday, but not before dropping 1.5 inches of rain in some areas and creating blustery conditions.
The weather will remain dry over the weekend, with temperatures warming. Another storm system is on the horizon, bringing more rain and snow to the region next week.
Rain totals in L.A. County for the Wednesday and Thursday storms are between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch. Some areas reported up to 1.5 inches, mostly in mountain communities.
Rain began falling in some coastal areas during the Wednesday morning rush hour, with the system then spreading slowly inland. “Steady rain” lingered in the evening hours into much of Los Angeles County, but overall rain totals were relatively low, according to the National Weather Service.

More showers entered the region on Thursday, with the strongest rainfall in the afternoon and evening hours.
Snow levels dropped to about 4,000 feet Wednesday night and down to around 3,500 feet Thursday. Some areas, including the Grapevine, got up 2 inches of snow, but most received less than an inch, according to the NWS.
“Dry and warmer weather is expected Friday through the weekend, then another series of storm systems will bring more rain and mountain snow to the region next week,” according to the NWS.
San Fernando Valley highs were forecast in the low 60s on Friday and low to mid-70s Saturday and Sunday.
South Bay and Long Beach temperatures were expected to be in the low 60s Friday, mid-60s on Saturday and high 60s on Sunday.
Orange County coastal highs were forecast in the high 50s on Friday and low 60s on Saturday and Sunday.
San Gabriel Valley highs were slated to be in the low 60s Friday, high 60s on Saturday and low to mid-70s on Saturday.
Inland Empire metropolitan and valley temperatures were forecast to be in the low 60s on Friday and low 70s on Saturday and Sunday. In those areas, a Frost Advisory is in effect from midnight Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday, with overnight lows expected to dip as low as 32 degrees.
High temperatures in San Bernardino and Riverside County mountain areas were forecast to be in the mid-30s on Friday with a slight chance of snow showers. It will be sunny over the weekend, with temperatures in the mid- to upper 40s on Saturday and the mid-50s on Sunday. Lows will be in the upper teens Friday night and the mid-20s Saturday and Sunday nights.
