A 1-acre Woodland Hills estate owned by Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen is on the market for just under $4 million.
Lush, tropical landscaping surrounds the 5,895-square-foot, Mediterranean-style house with six bedrooms, five bathrooms and an entertainer’s backyard. According to the listing, the house has been home to three celebrities, including Tupac Shakur, who hand-etched lyrics into the concrete.
A 1997 Vanity Fair profile reported that Shakur lived with his fiancée, Kidada Jones, the daughter of Quincy Jones. The rapper and actor was leasing and in the process of buying the house when he was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996 the Los Angeles Times reported in 2000.
Records show the house has changed hands a few times before Van Leeuwen and his wife, Serrina, took ownership in November 2019 for $2.325 million.
The house sits behind gates at the end of a long, private driveway.
Double entry doors open into the foyer, which has high ceilings and a curved staircase. Oversized windows flood the open-plan living space with natural light and offer views.
The kitchen boasts state-of-the-art Italian appliances, a coffee bar and a butler’s pantry that connects it to the formal dining room. French doors open the family room to the backyard pool, spa and barbecue kitchen with a wet bar, ice maker, refrigerator, grill, warming oven, stove and an additional sink.
Back inside, there’s an office.
Upstairs, a fireplace warms the primary suite with a private balcony. Floor-to-ceiling mirrored entrances lead to two large, separate walk-in closets. Van Leeuwen, 54, was a member of Maynard James Keenan’s supergroup A Perfect Circle when he joined Queens of the Stone Age (also known as QOTSA) in 2002.
Last year, the rock band, founded in 1996 by frontman Joshua Homme, toured in support of their eighth studio album, “In Times New Roman…” It was Van Leeuwen’s fifth album with QOTSA to date.
