Police ask for public’s help finding stolen 1958 Corvette

Police asked for the public’s help Wednesday in their search for a man suspected of stealing a classic Chevrolet Corvette sports car from an underground garage in West Los Angeles.

The theft occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at a parking garage on the 12200 block of West Olympic Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect entered an underground parking garage in the building, opened the unlocked blue two-door 1958 Corvette and drove off, the department said.

Police described the suspect as a white man between 25 and 30 years old, weighing between 170 to 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, dark shorts, gray-white shoes, with a black backpack and carrying a skateboard.

The Corvette’s value is estimated to be at least a few hundred thousand dollars, and it had a Rhode Island license plate that read 1KJ358, police said.

Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the theft to contact the LAPD.
