Photos: LA Music Center’s holiday event was a hit at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

Since 1959, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has sponsored this Emmy award-winning event that draws parents and children, music buffs, teens, visitors and the religious. In 2024 the show was designed to offer a new look and feel “to welcome a new generation of audiences,” officials said.

The three-hour event at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in The Music Center was hosted by standup comedian Melissa Villaseñor and voice-over actor Queen Noveen. And a lineup of 28 diverse artists from the Los Angeles area showed their moves and sounds.

The talent included the Christian Fellowship Chorale; the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles; the all-female mariachis Las Colibrí; the Palmdale High School Choral Union and Sunday Night Singers; Urban Voices Project, a choir comprised of men and women surviving homelessness on Skid Row; and young aerialists from Le PeTiT CiRqUe LA.

Rachel S. Moore, president and CEO of The Music Center, said the show was intended to “demonstrate the County’s commitment to inclusivity and response to the interests of even more Angelenos.”
