Pedestrian struck and killed on 110 Freeway near downtown LA

A man wearing undershorts and no pants was struck and killed by a vehicle on the 110 Freeway early Wednesday, Jan. 1, near the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 5:20 a.m. on the northbound freeway at Wilshire Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man had walked from the right shoulder of the freeway to the center divider and was struck by a vehicle, the CHP said.

A representative from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office was called out to the scene at 5:34 a.m.

A SigAlert was issued at 5:33 a.m. closing all lanes of the northbound freeway, except the No. 1 lane, for at least two hours.
