Pacoima brush fire stopped at a half-acre; arson investigation launched

LOS ANGELES — An arson investigation was underway after a half-acre brush fire burned in Pacoima on Sunday.

The grass fire was reported just after 4 p.m., in the 12900 block of West Bradford Street, near the Golden State (5) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

With limited access for ground resources, airships assisted in dropping water over the flames. More than 100 firefighters were able to stop the forward progress by 5 p.m., the LAFD reported.

Crews were continuing work in the area for mop-up and full extinguishment of the burned area.

The Los Angeles Police Department and arson investigators were assisting in finding a person of interest, the LAFD added.

No injuries were reported.
