New In-N-Out Burger opens in Carson on Thursday, Jan. 23

In-N-Out Burger will open its first new restaurant of the year in Carson on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The drive-thru is at 20512 S. Avalon Blvd., at the Carson Plaza Drive entrance to SouthBay Pavilion. The In-N-Out takes up about an acre that was formerly part of the mall’s parking lot, according to plans approved by the city in 2022.

City planners determined that the drive-thru could handle 24 vehicles and would be adequate for lunch and dinner traffic.

The restaurant will have indoor seating for 74 customers and patio seating for another 30, according to a news release. Its hours will be 10:30 a.m.-1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

It will be staffed by about 70 people with salaries starting at $22 an hour.

The news release numbers its restaurants as they open. The Carson restaurant is numbered 416. The system was briefly thrown off last year when the chain closed its Oakland restaurant, which was No. 193. But that number was reused when In-N-Out opened a new East Bay drive-thru in Hayward.

In-N-Out has 281 locations in California. The rest are in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho.

In-N-Out lists four other locations as “coming soon” on its website. They are in Anaheim, Sylmar, Nampa, Idaho; and South Salt Lake, Utah.

In-N-Out broke ground on an “eastern territory” hub in Tennessee in September. The office complex is expected to open in 2026.
