The city has asked for community input on a permanent monument to the victims. The Chinese Service Center began gathering feedback last year for the monument through discussions with family members of the victims and survivors, which included the creation of a survey.
This month, the survey was shared to the public and will run through the end of February. According to a city staff report, the initial survey results indicated a general interest in establishing a memorial. Respondents so far have supported an outdoor garden memorial or a mural, memorial wall or sculpture.
