The boys basketball Trinity-Mission League Showcase has been rescheduled to Feb. 1 because of the wildfires burning in Los Angeles County. The location will still be Intuit Dome, home of the Clippers, in Inglewood.
The seven-game showcase was slated to be an all-day event Friday but was postponed due to the severe weather and fire situations created by the multiple wildfires.
“We are grateful that all of the Trinity and Mission League schools have come together to make this decision,” tournament director Dan Shell said in a press release “This is a devastating time for our community, and our main priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved.”
Tickets purchased for the original Jan. 10 date will still be valid on Feb. 1. Updates on the showcase game times, matchups and ticketing will be available in the coming days. Ticket inquiries can be made at intuitdome.com.
The original lineup for the showcase was going to feature Trinity League and Mission League teams, including Daily News area teams Bishop Alemany, Chaminade, Crespi, Harvard-Westlake, Notre Dame, Sierra Canyon and St. Francis.
In addition to the event, all Mission League sporting events have been postponed for the remainder of the week.
St. Francis, which is located in La Cañada, has been dramatically affected by the Eaton Fire. Multiple student-athletes, families and more have either been displaced or have lost their homes. The school has set up an official donation site to provide aid to St. Francis families who have experienced damage.
