Metrolink’s Holiday Express is chugging into stations around Southern California

Families are enjoying a holiday party on the go.

Metrolink has been boarding passengers for a special ride on its Holiday Express Train, which is decorated for the season. Passengers are visited in their seats by carolers, holiday characters and special guests, including Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

On Saturday, the train chugged out of Anaheim’s ARTIC station on a 70-minute roundtrip. It actually made the trip twice with about 2,000 passengers between the two sessions. Before boarding, families could visit activity booths and hang out.

Previously Metrolink would visit stations with a festive train that had a holiday show for people to watch. But, in 2019, Metrolink debuted the train rides. Then the pandemic put the brakes on for several years. Rides resumed last year.

The Holiday Express Train will have morning and afternoon stops in Riverside on Dec. 7, in Simi Valley on Dec. 14, in Santa Clarita on Dec. 15 and in Redlands on Dec. 21.

Tickets start at $20, to purchase or learn more, visit metrolinktrains.com.
