A man stole a patrol car from Alhambra police in the city and led officers on a high-speed chase that ended in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning, March 18.
The suspect, who police said was a transient, was arrested and taken to a hospital for injuries he sustained while running from officers after the vehicle chase ended, police said.
Just after midnight, police pulled over a driver at Atlantic Boulevard and Glendon Way for a Vehicle Code violation. While officers were with the driver, the suspect walked up from behind and slide into the police SUV, drove off and entered the westbound 10 Freeway, police said. He had not been with the first driver.
Officers caught up to the suspect and the chase started.
Police did not say how fast the suspect was going, but FOX 11 reported that at least one vehicle in the chase hit 140 mph.
The suspect pulled over at Marathon Street and Oxford Avenue in Los Angeles, got out and ran. Officers and a police dog later caught him; the K-9 did not bite the suspect, police said.
