Man gunned down in Home Depot parking lot in North Hollywood

A man was shot and killed after an argument with another man outside a Home Depot in North Hollywood Friday night, Feb. 21, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

At around 8:15 p.m., officers were called to a Home Depot at 11600 Sherman Way for reports of a man shot in the parking lot, Officer Norma Eisenman said.

The victim, believed to be a man in his 20s, had reportedly been arguing with the suspect. The suspect then began chasing him through the parking lot and shot him in the head, LAPD Capt. Warner Castillo told freelance news videographer Key News Network.

While the victim was on the ground, he was run over by a black truck, Castillo said. After that happened, the driver parked the car, went inside, presumably to shop, and then drove away. The driver was not believed to have had any connection with the homicide, and Castillo said he likely did not know he had driven over the victim.

The victim, whose name was not available, was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

The suspect has not been identified and is still at large.

Castillo said there were many witnesses in the area who left before police arrived, and urged anyone with information to contact authorities.
