A 54-year-old woman died after a shooting Sunday morning, Nov. 10, in Hawthorne.
Officers responded around 11 a.m. to a shooting near the intersection of Doty Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard, according to Lt. Shawn Shimono, a spokesperson for the Hawthorne Police Department.
Callers told police that the suspect first stayed on scene after shooting the woman but later dropped their firearm and walked away.
When police arrived, they found the woman with several gunshot wounds to her upper body. Los Angeles County Fire officials pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Officers also saw a man who matched the suspect description walking away from the scene on Doty, police said.
