Malibu creates online hub for rebuilding, plans facility

After the Franklin fire and Palisades fire burned in parts of Malibu, the city is launching a website dedicated to recovery and planning an in person assistance center, the city announced on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

MalibuRebuilds.org is intended to be “a one-stop hub for all information related to recovery and rebuilding efforts,” aimed at residents and business owners affected by the fire, according to the city.

It has resources and information regarding debris removal, instructions and options for rebuilding, a calendar of deadlines for steps in the process, fire and storm preparedness tips and answer frequently asked questions.

“This website is a crucial step in ensuring Malibu’s residents and businesses have easy access to the resources they need to rebuild after these devastating fires,” said Malibu Mayor Doug Stewart in a statement. “Based on our past experience with wildfires, we know that centralizing key information and updates is one important way we can support our community and align our collective rebuilding efforts.”

The city also announced that a facility, the Malibu Rebuild Center, is planned. The facility, which the city said will open “soon,” is intended for in-person help for those rebuilding properties.
