Los Angeles Zoo welcomes the LGBTQIA community to ‘Animals Aglow’ light show
It was a light show, an art drama, and a glowing fantasy as the Los Angeles Zoo put on a special night for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their friends and loved ones, during the zoo’s wildly popular annual event L.A. Zoo Lights Animal Aglow.
Pride Night at the zoo on Dec. 11 was in its third year and it featured a dance party with a D.J. and full cocktail bars for adults.
Every year during the holiday season the zoo holds a number of special community nights to offer “an opportunity to enjoy the lights and programming in a safe, welcoming environment with their families and friends,” zoo officials wrote in a prepared statement. They include Holiday Pajama Weekend, Family New Year’s Eve and one night when “ugly holiday sweaters” are encouraged.

The L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow show runs through Jan. 5, 2025, and Santa will appear “on select nights through Dec. 23.” The annual show is what the zoo officials call an “enchanting festival of … larger-than-life animal lantern sculptures and holiday wonders.”
