A Los Angeles police officer was taken to a hospital for minor injuries on Friday, Feb. 21, after a crash on the 101 Freeway in Tarzana during a high-speed pursuit, police said.
At around 3:15 a.m., the police responded to a burglary-in-progress at a business at 15355 Sherman Way in Van Nuys, said Officer Rosario Cervantes, a LAPD spokesperson.
The three suspects fled the business, which is in a strip mall.
The chase ended about 10 minutes later when the patrol car crashed on the freeway near Tampa Avenue.
The suspects escaped, with their vehicle found abandoned on in a parking lot near the freeway and Burbank Boulevard, a little more than one mile away.
What caused the crash was unclear.
