LA County Fair hooks crochet fans together for community project

Anyone who has wanted to learn to crochet or contribute to a community art project is invited to a series of free workshops tied to the LA County Fair.

A series of crochet workshops, which kicked off Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Millard Sheets Art Center at Fairplex in Pomona, are designed to teach those at any skill level. Participants will create their own 12-by-12 crochet squares that will be added to a large canopy to be displayed at the fair in May.

The 2025 fair theme, “Art Unleashed,” is putting the focus on art and artists in the community and the impact they make.

The crochet workshops, held at 1101 W. McKinley Road, Pomona, are free and open to all ages. Workshops are scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Feb. 6 and March 6 and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 22, March 22 and April 5. Participants can enter Fairplex at Gate 1 and park in the administrative lot.

The LA County Fair will run May 2-26 at the fairgrounds.
