LA-area cultural dance pioneer honored at “Mexican Pride Month” event

Cándida Hernández, recognized as a founder of the first folk dance groups in Los Angeles, was honored by the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

LA city leaders criticized for moving artifacts to make way for Olympics exhibit

The “Mexican Pride Month” event featured several leaders from the Oaxacan community, including Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez, consul general of Mexico in Los Angeles, and Odilia Romero, executive director of Comunidades Indigenas en Liderazgo.

Also on hand was Odilia Romero, Executive Director of Indigenous Communities in Leadership.
