Almost Acoustic Christmas, originally known as the KROQ Christmas Bash, was established in 1989. It marked its 2023 edition at the Kia Forum in Inglewood with performances by The Offspring, Garbage, Portugal. The Man, Bleachers, Cannons, Lovejoy, Bakar and The Beaches. Los Angeles rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers were originally scheduled to perform but dropped out and were replaced by longtime KROQ favorite 311. Fans at last year’s event were treated to a prerecorded video of RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis singing a song that apologized for not being there and explaining it was due to guitarist John Frusciante’s broken finger.
Each year, the radio station strives to donate a portion of its proceeds to local charities. This year, the efforts will once again support Para Los Niños and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, both of which are Los Angeles-based charitable organizations.
