The Internal Revenue Service on Friday, Jan. 10 moved the tax filing deadline to Oct. 15 for Los Angeles County residents affected by the wildfires.
In addition to filing personal and business tax returns later this year, tax payments also can be moved to the fall, the IRS said.
“Penalties for failing to make payroll and excise tax deposits “due on or after Jan. 7, 2025, and before Jan. 22, 2025, will be abated as long as the deposits are made by Jan. 22,” the agency said.
The new deadline works only for those in LA County, at least for now, the IRS said.
