High surf advisory in place for Los Angeles County beaches until early Thursday morning

Malibu, Los Angeles County Beaches and Ventura County Beaches are the focus of a high surf advisory issued at 3:43 a.m. on Tuesday by the National Weather Service. The advisory is valid from 4 p.m. until Thursday, Apr. 3 at 4 a.m.

The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA adds to anticipate, “Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet with sets to 10 feet with dangerous rip currents.”

“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” the NWS said. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.”
