Three victims who were fatally stabbed by a family member in a Baldwin Park home on Thursday evening were identified by authorities on Saturday, Dec. 28.
They were an adult and two children: Rona Nate, 44, Paul Manangan, 16, and Mia Narvaez, 8, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office said.
Baldwin Park Police Department officers responded at 6:48 p.m. Thursday to the 4700 block of Bogart Avenue, between Maine and Phelan avenues, where they found the victims, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Michael Modica.
Each suffered multiple stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to media reports.
Alexis Galicia, 28, who lives on a nearby street, said the sound of a helicopter woke him up. Then he heard screaming. It was around 6 p.m.
“Just a little girl screaming for help,” Galicia said.
The suspect tried to drive away from the scene but was detained, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Modica said.
A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbings. He was determined to be related to the victims and a resident of the home, Modica said. The man was arrested and booked at the Baldwin Park Police Department on suspicion of murder.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for charging, Modica said.
“Out of respect for the family of the victims, the exact relationships will not be released at this time,” Modica said.
