Frightful fun awaits at ‘Lights Out’ in Pomona

Chilling chambers and creeping creatures await those who venture into the darkness at Fairplex in Pomona in search of Halloween thrills.

“Lights Out,” a seasonal haunt for guests over age 13, returns for its second year with more scary activities and food to explore when the night takes over and screams hang in the air.

The event features five mazes full of lurking clowns and nocturnal creatures. New this year are the the Asylum of Horrors and the Haunted Swamp.

Deranged patients and hospital staff await around every corner in anticipation of new victims in the Asylum of Horrors. Creatures of all manners, even plants in the mist waiting for their next meal, greet those who take a not-so-relaxing nature walk through the Haunted Swamp.

There are plenty of photo opportunities at “Lights Out,” along with roaming monsters and an expanded zombie ball course where attendees can take their best shot at exterminating the undead with rifles loaded with jelly-ball ammo.

For those whose appetites aren’t scared away, there are spooky, savory treats such as the creepy chicken sandwich complete with a gummy eyeball, loaded finger fries and witches nachos.

Fright-night finds will be available in the horror vendor village, a darkened hall filled with horror-themed T-shirts, ghoulish jewelry and more.

“Lights Out” hours are 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 27. Tickets start at $29 online at fairplex.com/lightsout; $39 at the gate. The event is recommended for ages 13 and up.
