A group advocating to Free Palestine walked Colorado Boulevard briefly on Wednesday morning, Jan. 1.
Initially, parade-watchers in the crowd thought the protest at Colorado Boulevard and Oakland Avenue was another parade entry.
But then, after a pause, many realized it was a protest.
Parade-goers said there were about eight to 10 people in the protest group, marching in a straight line, much like other parade marchers as they carried a big banner.
Ancillary sign carriers with Free Palestine shouted out at the crowd but in a subdued way.
Last year, protesters briefly blocked the parade before they agreed to depart peacefully.
