Fight, shooting shuts down 101 Freeway in downtown LA for 3 hours

A fight followed by a shooting prompted the California Highway Patrol to shut down all northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles Saturday afternoon for a crime scene investigation.

The fight was reported to the CHP at 1:35 p.m. Saturday on the northbound side of the freeway at Mission Road, Officer Erik Larsen told City News Service.

An argument broke out between two people followed by a shooting, Larsen said.

One person was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries, he said.

The CHP reopened the right lanes of the northbound freeway about 3:30 p.m. and reopened the remaining lanes about an hour later.
