A motorist was hospitalized after being seriously injured in a crash involving a Los Angeles Fire Department engine in Pacoima Sunday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m. in 13000 block of West Terra Bella Street. Two firefighters also were also hospitalized, both with non-life threatening injuries, LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
Details about what led up to the crash were not immediately available. The crash was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
It wasn’t immediately known how many firefighters were in the engine, or if it was responding to a call for service with lights and siren on when the crash occurred.
Video from RMG News, a freelance news organization, showed a white Toyota sedan with major damage across the driver’s side of the car resting against a light pole. The fire engine showed moderate front-end damage.
The crash occurred at a T-shaped intersection at West Terra Bella and San Fernando Road just outside Whiteman Airport, the video shows.
