A man was fatally shot by at least one California Highway Patrol officer after a police pursuit ended in a Winnetka cul-de-sac early Wednesday, Feb. 26.

The pursuit ended around 2:30 a.m. on the 7200 block of Sunny Brae Avenue, according to multiple news reports.

It is unclear what led to the pursuit.

CHP officers opened fire on the suspect after he allegedly got out of the van and drew a handgun, Fox 11 reported.

At least a dozen gunshots can be heard on surveillance footage from a nearby home.

The suspect’s family said he was 21 years old and lived in the area, according to multiple news reports. Fox also reported that someone with law enforcement said the van had allegedly been speeding and driving erratically.
