Disneyland closes 3 attractions during busy festival season

Disneyland will close three attractions for seasonal refurbishments during the busy festival season as the Anaheim theme park resort prepares for the 70th anniversary celebration in the spring.

Indiana Jones Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout and “Fantasmic” will temporarily close in March as part of the standard refurbishment schedule at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

The three new attraction closures join the Disneyland Railroad, Disneyland Monorail, Grizzly River Run, It’s a Small World, Pixie Hollow and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln that were already shuttered for refurbishment.

The Indiana Jones Adventure motion-base dark ride will be closed on March 17 through April 24 for a monthlong seasonal refurbishment.

The Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout drop tower in DCA’s Avengers Campus will be closed March 10-20 for a brief seasonal refurbishment.

The “Fantasmic” nighttime spectacular on Disneyland’s Rivers of America will be dark on March 3-6, March 10-13, March 31-April 3 and April 7-10.

The Disneyland Railroad and Disneyland Monorail will both return on March 6 after extended refurbishments that began in early January.

The Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure will return March 14 after the annual winter refurbishment of the river rapids ride.

It’s a Small World in Fantasyland is not expected to return until the spring as the boat ride undergoes an extended seasonal refurbishment.

The Pixie Hollow meet-and-greet area in Fantasyland where visitors shrink down to the size of a fairy to visit Tinker Bell has been closed since September and is not expected to return before mid-April.

The “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” show closed in April and is not expected to return until fall 2026 after the yearlong run of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration.

Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will run by itself during its initial run when the new animatronic show debuts July 17 and will then play in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” in Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House.

Recently refurbished rides include the Haunted Mansion, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind and Mark Twain Riverboat that returned in January and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail that came back in mid-February.

The flurry of refurbishments come as the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival kicks off on Friday, Feb. 28 ahead of Disneyland’s year-long 70th anniversary celebration that begins on May 16.
